The Chappell Hill VFD prides itself on being there for the community in its time of need. Whether it be a natural disaster, house fire, vehicle accident, wildfire, or your fire alarm going off for an unknown reason. Our highly trained firefighters will respond to any incident and be there for the citizens of this great community. The community relations that have been increasing over the last couple of years are going to become more frequent. The community deserves to know these men and women who want to help the community. The department, however, wants to see community support; with a decrease in donations last year, the department sent out its yearly campaign letter, and only 19.1% of the community responded with monetary donations. The support requested here is the creation of Washington County ESD #1. This would bring in newer equipment that is more reliable on fire scenes and newer and better fire apparatus that is not over 20 years old and has the potential of breaking down on the way to a call. It also allows the department to start incentivizing volunteers to operate the station during peak hours to reduce response time to your emergency and eventually bring in paid personnel 24/7. But this takes time and continued support. We invite anyone interested in joining our agency to reach out and become part of a great team! Thank you, and enjoy the weekly report.
